Do you know Bintulu?

Hi everyone!

I,m Jia Hui, a 17-year-old girl from Bintulu, Sarawak. I am pretty sure that most of you are not familiar with this place. Well, Bintulu is a coastal town on the island of Borneo and is well-known for its various natural resources.

Just as what the title stated, Bintulu was named "River de Burulu" by Portuguese cartographers during the 16th century. In the 1950s, major economic activities in Bintulu were the timber extraction industry, fishing, and Sago processing. In the 1960s, Bintulu was still a small fishing village until large reserves of natural gas were discovered off the coast of Bintulu in 1969.
